[Preamble] In the name of God, for the sake of increasing unity and friendship between the Spanish and French branches of the House of Bourbon
Article I: Marriage agreed: Wedding at the French court, with papal dispensation
Article II: Dowry determined (300,000 gold écus): as compensation for the bride’s renunciation of inheritance rights on her father’s and mother’s side, renunciation by the groom of his claim to the throne in France until the dowry has been paid, provision for the return of the dowry in the event of the bride’s death without children or surviving descendants: reversion of the dowry regulated
Article III: Investment of the dowry regulated in the event of dissolution of the marriage: handover of the dowry sum to the bride, her authorised representatives or legal successors regulated
Article IV: Bridal gifts from Louis: including jewellery worth 300,000 livres, to be handed over upon departure for Spain
Article V: Bridal gifts from Philip specified: including jewellery worth 360,000 livres
Article VI: Maintenance, accommodation befitting her status and courtly life of the bride regulated
Article VII: Spanish dowry allowance stipulated: 100,000 gold écus instead of a life annuity, as provision in the event of dissolution of the marriage, as widow’s provision, personal property of the bride
Article VIII: The bride’s right to return to France in the event of dissolution of the marriage or as a widow is guaranteed, as is her right to take her movable property with her and to use the dowry allowance.
Article IX: Marriage by proxy in France, transfer of the bride to Spain, remarriage in Spain in the presence of a French special envoy.
