Contract content

Preamble: Marriage and contract agreed upon, to preserve and strengthen the friendly ties between both houses in the future, for the general peace of Christendom, appointment of negotiators and procurators and specification of their powers by both sides, marriage announced upon the bride and groom reaching the age of majority

Article 1: Marriage assured, dowry and compensation assured

Article 2: Marriage and consummation to take place as soon as the groom reaches the age of 14

Article 3: If necessary, the wedding date may be brought forward to before Arthur’s 12th birthday: with papal dispensation, if necessary for urgent reasons

Article 4: Transfer of the bride when the groom reaches the age of 14, regulated

Article 5: Type and amount of donatio propter nuptias and dowry payment, method and period of payment regulated

Article 6: Bride receives one third of the groom’s lands as a wedding gift, gift period regulated

Article 7: If bride becomes Queen of England, traditional gift from English king contractually guaranteed

Article 8: If the bride inherits the throne of Castile, León and Aragon due to the death of older siblings: return there and remain there

Article 9: As queen, the bride receives, in addition to her wedding gift, one third of the lands in the Kingdom of England for life
