Contract content

Article 1 - Marriage agreed upon

Article 2 - Dominions in the Dauphiné, Champagne, Poitou and Normandy, to which Charlotte was entitled as an inheritance, were stipulated as a dowry

Article 3 - In Normandy, the Dukes of Orléans-Longueville are granted the right to repurchase at 30,000 livres within 30 years

Article 4 - The other dominions are Charlotte’s inheritance, which she passes on to her descendants; if she dies without descendants, reversion of the inheritance to the House of Orléans-Longueville, unless otherwise stipulated by Charlotte

Article 5 - Regulations regarding financial obligations as a result of the possession of the dominions determined as dowry

Article 6 - The Dukes of Orléans-Longueville must compensate the couple with equivalent lands in the event of repurchase

Article 7 - Community of property and community of accrued gains agreed between the spouses, with the exception of the bridal treasure

Article 8 - Dower and dower lands determined

Article 9 - Regulation of Charlotte’s furnishings

The House of Orléan Longueville is an illegitimate collateral line of the House of Valois, which goes back to John of Orléan, Count of Dunois (1402-1468)
