Marriage contract no. 22: Frankreich - Bayern

Contract content

[Pre] – to consolidate the existing friendship: marriage considered the most effective means of firmly renewing the alliance, appointment of negotiators, contract content announced:

1 – Date set for church wedding

2 – Dowry set: payment arranged

3 – Donatio propter nuptias determined, interest for widow’s maintenance regulated

4 – Morning gift determined

5 – Maintenance of the bride during the marriage determined

6 – Widow’s maintenance determined: from the income of the Kingdom of Italy, widow’s residence regulated

7 – After the death of the groom: guardianship of the bride over children assured

8 – After the death of the bride: use of dowry, lifetime gain by groom agreed

9 – Renunciation of inheritance regulated: in return for dowry payment, in favour of the Bavarian princes, in accordance with the alliance treaty of 10 December 1805

10 – Position as viceroy of Italy guaranteed to the groom: sovereign rule over the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza or equivalent rule guaranteed to the groom and his male heirs

11 – Confidentiality of the treaty agreed
