Preamble (582 re): The following agreement is hereby concluded

Article 1 (582 re): Marriage agreed: as soon as possible, including all succession rights of the bride (?)

Article 2 (582 re): Dowry determined: payment regulated, interest regulated until full payment, investment of dowry shares in Lorraine possessions or for mobile equipment regulated

Article 3 (582 re – 583 li): Widow’s income. Widow’s property regulated: including improvement if necessary

Article 4 (583 li): Community of property of the spouses agreed for movable furnishings and gains, widow’s residence including furnishings regulated

Article 5 (583 li): After the death of the bride or groom: payment of two-thirds of the dowry to the bride or the groom’s heirs regulated

Article 6 (583 li): After the death of the groom before the bride: possible dissolution of the community of property, payment of the dowry, delivery of widow’s property, clothes and bridal jewellery to the bride regulated

Article 7 (583 li): Upon the death of the bride without children before the groom: payment of two-thirds of the dowry, the bride’s personal property and bridal jewellery to the bride’s heirs

Commentary

Bride: Calvinist, all attempts to persuade her to convert to Catholicism were in vain, therefore the validity of the marriage was disputed until Catherine’s death in 1604 (Mohr)
