Contract content

Preamble: Decision to enter into and initiate marriage announced: to preserve the Saxon electoral dignity in the Albertine line, following the recommendation of the Saxon estates, to create closer ties between houses – courtship announced through intermediaries: (527f.)

Article 1: Consent for bride granted: for the benefit and welfare of Christianity, to increase kinship and friendship between both countries

Article 2: Trousseau regulated, transfer of bride, consummation of marriage in Saxony agreed, dowry determined

Article 3: Donatio propter nuptias and widow’s estate regulated: at the discretion of the bride’s father, widow’s income determined, rights of use determined, use of widow’s estate against Saxony prohibited

Article 4: Morning gift determined, personal property of the bride regulated

Article 5: Renunciation of inheritance by the bride regulated: paternal, maternal and fraternal inheritance, with the consent of the groom, except in the event of the extinction of the kings of Denmark

Article 6: After the death of the bride without children: continued use of trousseau, dowry, reversion after the death of the groom regulated

Esch: Sealed by the groom and mediator, consent of the Elector of Saxony assured (530)
