[Pre] – to continue the happiness of the peoples under his crown through the heir to the throne: decision of the groom’s father to marry announced – choice of bride by the groom’s father announced: because of the bride’s virtue, qualities befitting her status and high lineage – dispatch of negotiators to Munich, drafting of marriage contract announced – Consent of the groom’s guardian announced: as guardian and with the consent of the Elector, as an honest response to the groom’s father’s high esteem for the House of Bavaria, to continue the good understanding and friendship between France and Bavaria through marriage as a suitable means – Conclusion of contract announced (419-421)
1 – Marriage agreed: after obtaining dispensation from the Pope, according to Catholic rites, in Munich, church wedding arranged after transfer of the bride to France
2 – Renunciation of inheritance by the bride arranged – Dowry and trousseau determined: payment arranged
