[Preamble] – Concerned with the consolidation and preservation of universal peace, for the benefit of their peoples, encouraged by the Pope and his Nuncio in France, mediated by the Grand Duke of Tuscany and his Ambassador to France, for the consolidation of fraternal friendship and peace since the reigns of Kings Henry IV of France and Philip II of Spain, through a new double marriage to be perpetuated among their successors: Agreement on double marriage with dispensation from the Pope upon the bride and groom reaching the age of majority, expressed in the drawing up of marriage contracts at the respective courts, dispatch of Spanish negotiators, contract negotiations expressed, marriage contract agreed:
1 – Marriage agreed: upon the bride reaching the required age for marriage
2 – Dowry determined: for all paternal and maternal inheritance rights of the bride, payment agreed
3 – Investment of the dowry in annuities regulated: interest regulated
4 – To better secure the peace of Christendom through double marriage, to continue peace and alliance between the kings and their successors, to remove all causes of dispute from the inheritance claims of the marital descendants to the respective kingdoms: succession to the throne of the bride and her descendants in countries of the French crown excluded, claims settled with dowry
5-6 – Regulation of the bride’s renunciation of inheritance: during the bride’s minority, together with the groom and for her descendants, to the lands and inheritance claims of the French crown
7-8 – Ratification, regulation of the bride’s renunciation of inheritance: by the bride and groom, Spanish Council of State
9 – Bride’s jewellery specified: to be the hereditary property of the bride
10 – Maintenance of the bride and her court during the marriage regulated
11 – Additional payment to the dowry specified: amounting to one third of the dowry, instead of a donatio propter nuptias, for the widow’s maintenance, to be hereditary property
12-13 – Free choice of widow’s residence regulated: in Spain or France, with all widow’s income, transfer of letter of security to bride guaranteed
14 – Transfer of the bride regulated: to the border of Spain, at the same time as the transfer of Anna of Spain
